For macOS 26 · Coming soon

See where your disk space really went.

Veldi is a storage X-ray and cleanup tool for your Mac. It measures what's actually on disk — cloud-only files, clones and hard links included — shows the exact size of every cleanup before you choose it, and tells you plainly what's slowing your Mac down.

Free to measure. Pro from $29 a year, with a 14-day free trial.

Illustrative figures, based on a scan of the developer's Mac.

Overview

“System Data: 60 GB” isn't an answer.

Neither is adding up file sizes when half your files live in iCloud and the rest are APFS clones sharing the same blocks. Veldi measures the way the file system does.

Cloud-only aware

A 7 GB video that lives in iCloud takes 0 bytes here. Veldi reports both numbers, and nothing is downloaded while it scans.

Clone- and link-aware

What deleting frees leaves out blocks shared by APFS clones and hard links, so you don't delete 2 GB and get 200 MB back.

“Not measured”, never “0 bytes”

When macOS won't let Veldi look inside a folder, it says so, and every total above it becomes a minimum, not a guess.

X-ray and treemap

Every folder sized by what it really occupies, as a list or a treemap. Open the big ones, or reveal anything in Finder.

Clean Up

Built for Macs that build things.

Developer tools and apps leave behind gigabytes that general-purpose cleaners often miss. Veldi's 45 rules know them by name, say who owns each one and what rebuilding costs, and show the exact size before anything is touched.

  • node_modules
  • .next & framework caches
  • npm, pnpm, Yarn, Bun
  • Xcode DerivedData
  • iOS Simulators
  • CocoaPods & SwiftPM
  • Cargo & Rust targets
  • Go, Gradle, Maven
  • Python venvs, pip, uv
  • Homebrew downloads
  • Playwright browsers
  • Browser & app caches
  • App logs
  • Installation files

See the number first

Every rule shows exactly what it would free on your Mac — “You could free 38.2 GB” — before you pick anything.

Trash or delete: your choice

Move cleanups to the Trash so you can put them back, or delete them permanently to get the space at once. You choose in Settings, and Veldi tells you which it's about to do before it does it.

History and Put Back

Every cleanup is journaled with what it freed. Anything Veldi moved to the Trash can be put back from History, one item or all at once (items that needed your administrator password are put back from the Trash in Finder).

Hands off cloud folders

Veldi won't clean inside a folder that syncs, because deleting there removes it from every device.

FreeEvery preview and exact size. Put Back, always.

Cloud

Free space without losing a file.

Files in iCloud Drive can live online-only and download again when you open them. Veldi shows what's on this Mac and what isn't, and lets you change it folder by folder.

FreeCloud status and downloads.

ProMaking files online-only.

Checked before it starts

Before making anything online-only in a drive, Veldi proves the round trip works on this Mac: it writes an 8 MB test file, makes it online-only, downloads it again and checks it's identical. Once per drive.

Verified file by file

Each file is verified, re-checked for changes, journaled, and confirmed to have actually released its space.

Download it back

Bring a folder back onto this Mac whenever you want it offline.

Photos

Your Photos library, X-rayed.

In Finder, the Photos library is one opaque bundle. Veldi breaks it down without opening a single photo: it reads sizes and Photos' own database, read-only.

What's inside

How much is originals and how much is what Photos can rebuild, with the file counts behind each.

Old Photos search files

Photos' search writes these files and never deletes them. Veldi offers only the ones older than a week that nothing is using.

Fewer originals, Apple's way

To keep fewer originals on this Mac, Veldi points you to Optimize Mac Storage. Photos decides what to remove; no app can safely do it photo by photo.

FreeThe Photos X-ray.

ProRemoving old search files.

Apps

Uninstall apps completely. Or just reset them.

Dragging an app to the Trash leaves its caches, preferences and support files behind. Veldi shows everything an app keeps on your Mac — and only what it can tie to that app.

Uninstall, leftovers included

Remove an app with what it stored. Caches and logs are selected for you; anything that may hold your own files or sign-ins is left for you to decide.

Leftovers from removed apps

Already dragged something to the Trash? Veldi finds data from apps that are gone, and never guesses: anything shared or uncertain stays.

Reset

Keep the app, remove its data — the fix for an app that has stopped behaving.

The vendor's uninstaller first

When an app ships its own uninstaller, Veldi says so and offers it first, as Apple recommends.

Updates, found for you

See which of your apps have newer versions, from the App Store, Homebrew and the apps' own update feeds. Old versions and leftover installers show up in Clean Up.

Performance

Why is my Mac slow? Plain answers.

What's using memory and battery, and what's heating your Mac, right now — written for people rather than engineers.

Activity

Memory pressure, the apps using the most — helpers counted with their app — and anything that has kept a core busy for minutes. Quit an app from the same place.

No “Free Up Memory” button

It would only empty cached files that macOS refills the moment you need them. What gives memory back is quitting an app, so that's what Veldi offers.

Health

Chip temperatures, the times this week macOS slowed the processor to cool it, and your battery's charge cycles — alongside the charge limit macOS already has.

Startup

Everything that starts on its own and keeps running, and opens Login Items so you can turn off what you don't need.

Menu bar

Disk, memory, battery and heat at a glance, with alerts when the disk is nearly full, memory runs short or an app stays busy for minutes.

FreeEvery Performance readout.

Privacy

No tracking, no analytics, no ads.

Veldi measures your Mac on your Mac. There's no account for the free features and no copy of your files anywhere. It goes online only to look for updates — for your apps and for Veldi itself — and here is exactly what that sends.

Nothing watching you

The app has no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Crash and hang reports are off unless you turn them on — and then they're saved as files on your Mac.

No account for the free features

Measuring, every preview, Performance and Put Back work without signing in to anything.

What Updates looks up

To find newer versions of your apps, Veldi asks Apple's App Store about the App Store apps you have, and reads Homebrew's catalogue and the apps' own update feeds. It reads Veldi's own update feed for new versions of itself. Nothing about your files is sent.

Access, explained

Full Disk Access lets Veldi measure protected folders; without it they show as “Not measured”. In your Photos library it reads sizes and Photos' own database, read-only, and never opens your photos. Veldi may also ask to control Finder (to remove items that need your password), for App Management (to update apps) and for notifications; each is optional.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What's free?

Everything that measures: Overview and X-ray, the Clean Up preview with exact sizes, Photos X-ray, cloud status and downloads, the apps list with leftovers and available updates, Activity, Health, Startup and the menu bar. History and Put Back are free too.

Pro is for the actions: running Clean Up, uninstalling and resetting apps, removing leftovers, making files online-only. The free features need no account.

How does the free trial work?

You get every Pro feature for 14 days, with no card. When the trial ends nothing is charged: Veldi simply goes back to the free features unless you buy. There is one trial per account and per Mac.

Monthly, annual or one-time — which should I pick?

Monthly ($5.99) is the most flexible. Annual ($29) saves about 60% over a year of Monthly. Both always include the latest version of Veldi.

Veldi 1 ($49, once) is a one-time purchase, with every 1.x update. When Veldi 2.0 comes out, your 1.x keeps working without a subscription and you'll get an offer to upgrade.

What happens when a subscription ends?

Veldi goes back to the free features — they keep working. Measuring, previews and History stay, and Put Back still restores anything Veldi sent to the Trash that is still there (items that needed your administrator password are put back from the Trash in Finder). Nothing you've already cleaned is undone or locked away.

How many Macs can I use it on?

Up to 3 Macs per account, on any plan.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 30 days of any payment — your first purchase or any renewal — email hello@ferrix.ventures and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked.

What leaves my Mac?

No tracking, no analytics, and no account needed for the free features. Scans run on your Mac and their results stay there.

To find updates, Veldi asks Apple's App Store about the App Store apps you have installed, and reads public update feeds from Homebrew and app makers. That is how it knows a newer version exists; nothing personal is sent.

Why does Veldi ask for Full Disk Access?

macOS keeps some folders private unless you allow it: your cloud folders, Photos library, Desktop, Documents and Downloads. With Full Disk Access Veldi can measure them; without it they show as “Not measured”, never as 0 bytes.

You can grant or remove it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access.

What do I need to run Veldi?

macOS 26 Tahoe or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon. Intel Macs aren't supported.

Is it safe?

Clean Up shows exactly what it will remove, and how much space that frees, before anything happens. You choose whether items go to the Trash or are deleted permanently.

Every clean-up is recorded in History, and anything still in the Trash can be put back from there in one click (items that needed your administrator password are put back from the Trash in Finder).

Do you offer team or education plans?

Not as plans yet. Email us at hello@ferrix.ventures — for teams, schools and students we'll sort something out by hand.

Who sells Veldi?

Veldi is made by Ferrix Ventures, based in Spain. Payments will be handled by Stripe; if checkout runs on Stripe Managed Payments, the Stripe company named on your receipt is the seller, and we stay responsible for Veldi and its support. Your card details never reach us.
